The parade is one part of
the festival, celebrating the heritage of General John J. Pershing, the only living
officer in the history of the United States authorized to wear six stars with
the rank of General of the Armies of the United States. There are vendors, a civil war campsite
reenactment, and this year the Traveling Tomb of the Unknown Soldier was on
display at the Pershing Homestead site. The
Marching Eagles will next travel to Milan, MO next Friday for Milan High
School’s Homecoming Parade and then to Carrollton, MO on Saturday for the
annual Carrollton Band Day Marching Competition. The Marching Eagles are led by Senior Drum
Major Kasie Boyd and are under the direction of Mr. Dustijn Hollon.
