On Thursday,
December 13th, Meadville R-IV Schools’ Music Department presented
their annual Christmas Concert to a packed house in the gymnasium at the
school. The full evening of
entertainment started with the Preschool and Kindergarten
singing “Jingle Bells”
and “Santa Claus is Coming to Town.”
Next, the JH/HS Concert Band performed “All I Want For Christmas,” “Mozart’s
the Sleigh Ride,” “It Came Upon A Midnight Clear,” and “Party Rock Christmas” –
which featured a Christmas drum cadence, and a combination of the Marching
Eagles’ two marching tunes (Party Rock Anthem and Good King Wencelas).
The 5th Grade Band then performed “Jolly
Old St. Nick,” “Farm Out,” and “BINGO.” The 4th Grade Band then
performed on hand bells “Away in A Manger” and “Jingle Bells. The 6th
Grade Band played next, “Theme from Surprise Symphony,” “Parade of the Tin
Soldiers,” and “We Three Kings.” After
the final band performed, GleeM Showchoir took the stage and performed “Santa
Baby,” “When Christmas Comes to Town,” and “Rockin’ Around the Christmas
Tree.” Then it was time for the
elementary choruses to take the stage.
First, 1st , 2nd, and 3rd Grades sang “2
Front Teeth,” and “Frosty the Snowman,” and “Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer.”
Next 4th, 5th and 6th Grades took the stage
and sang “Holly Jolly Christmas,” “Let it Snow,” and “Jingle Bell Rock.” To finish off the concert, 1st
through 6th Grade sang “We Wish You A Merry Christmas”
together. After the concert was over,
the Meadville JH/HS Band hosted a taco bar free-will donation dinner in the
school’s cafeteria. The Band would like
to thank everyone that attended the dinner and for their generous donations to
the program. The music program at
Meadville Schools is under the direction of Mr. Dustijn Hollon.
